It’s been a while!

A lot’s happened, illness, more illness, misdiagnosis, major op, recovery.  Too tired to post about it today though.

Managed to get myself a bit of work, 4-5 hrs a week.  Did 2 hours on Monday and haven’t been able to do anything since!  Housework is piling up, seriously behind in my studies, but I do feel a bit better today.  Then again I’m due to work again tomorrow, so that’ll be the weekend wiped out!  Ho hum.

Today’s focus though – a campaign by the inspirational Sue Marsh to get ESA changed.  Yesterday’s #ESAendgame was amazing, and she’s got more things planned.  If you haven’t already done so, check out her blog:  http://diaryofabenefitscrounger.blogspot.co.uk/

The other blog I check regularly is http://johnnyvoid.wordpress.com/

Even if you’re not disabled or claiming benefits, the way this government is treating those who do is just unbelievably cruel.  Whilst I don’t doubt there are some who ‘play the system’, not every claimant is doing so – there are many, many people who genuinely need financial help.   Like many, I live in fear of losing the little that I get – I work part time on a low income because I just can’t work more than that.  No employer in his right mind would employ me, I’d be off sick within a week (that’s being a realist, not being defeatist).  If two hours of physical work leaves me wrecked for 2 days, one full 40hr week would nearly kill me!  I haven’t tried to claim ESA, from what I’ve seen online there’s not a hope of getting it and the stress of going through that process just doesn’t seem worth it.

Anyway, that’s all for now – will go and make a coffee, then see if I can do a little housework to stop the place looking such a mess.

Living with ME

Standard

Something that will feature in this blog is the illness ME … known by many names and nicknames: ME is an acronym for Myalgic Encephalopathy, also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and referred to by many doctors as CFS/ME.  When I first heard of it in the 80s it was called Yuppy Flu and sounded like people just being lazy.  God how wrong was that assumption!

I’ll write more later/tomorrow/whenever I can … I’m supposed to be studying at the moment but I appear to be perfecting my skills in prevarication 😉

Hello!

Welcome to my new blog.  This is my place to talk about things that interest or bug me.  I’m not here to be contentious or argumentative – just saying it how I see it.   If you feel the urge to comment, please remember that my opinion is just as important as yours – healthy discussion is fine, but blatant trolling won’t be tolerated and I’ll just delete your comment.
